Care to Self-Care

The last couple of weeks have been “different” to say the least. The COVID19 virus has taken us out of our comfortable shoes of routine and placed us in the land of unknown. Every story is so personal, yet there is a thread linking us all – “we are together, yet feel so alone”. The role of distancing seems respectful, safe and correct, yet so sad to know that even a kiss on the cheek is not accepted. The social media and live sessions on almost every topic is probably reaching it’s peak and manages to gather so many like minded, yet sometimes brings such sadness to look at You all through the window of virtuality.  Every day is different, yet seems nothing changes. Our emotions are so vulnerable and fluctuating in so many directions each moment of the day.  It can get overwhelming. For this reason we place them first and we believe that the immune system of our emotions leads the path of the inner strength.  Which without a doubt is the source of all the strengths there are. And as we say – `’Feel Well, Do Well.  This week, we would like to share with you what we are doing in order to feel well. Our hearts are open, even when the doors are closed.

BOOK

Book – Seneca on the Antidote to Anxiety”

WE QUOTE:

“What I advise you to do is, not to be unhappy before the crisis comes; since it may be that the dangers before which you paled as if they were threatening you, will never come upon you; they certainly have not yet come. Accordingly, some things torment us more than they ought; some torment us before they ought; and some torment us when they ought not to torment us at all. We are in the habit of exaggerating, or imagining, or anticipating, sorrow.”

Local Businesses – Nourish to Flourish

WE WISH:

It is more important than ever to support local producers, local business and locals makers. Take your time to source what is local and available to you and order, even if something small for your wardrobe, table or soul. Be it local vegetables, local creams, locally printed books. Every little counts. In Lithuania, next to our house we have “old-town grocery” that sources and sells all things local and delicious. They are still open and still waiting with open hearts. Next door a bagel restaurant “Beigelistai” where you can grab your most delicious bagel in town. Yes, it’s take-away only.

ONLINE COURSES – “Be Happy – Be Well” says Yale University

WE RECOMMEND:

A course offered for FREE on the science of well-being by YALE university. In this course you will engage in a series of challenges designed to increase your own happiness and build more productive habits. And you can do it right here, right now, simply on your couch. WELL-BEING – Build Your Immune Pharmacy

WE DRINK & EAT:

“It is like our “little black dress” which never goes out of style only hidden in the cupboards of the kitchen. All you need is a pinch of pepper, 1/2 tsp of cinammon, 1 tsp of turmeric, 1 tsp of honey and two cups of warm almond milk, because one is never enough. ” If that immune boost is not enough we recommend indulging into the healthy that meets guilty – Kitchen Julie instagram account.

ART- Let Your Eyes See Happy

WE LOVE:

If there is something that we could look at for days and always find a new perspective of happiness, it would definitely be Heather Day’s paintings. Dreaming it will once appear on our white walls. And when if not now is the great time to dream about your future art collection? Walking from one room to another and imagining all the beautiful art is a good way to find positivity within. And it costs nothing.

INSTAGRAM- Brittany Bathgate on the Tones of Balance

WE FOLLOW:

Only by simply scrolling Brittany’s account we feel the calm knocking our door. Her views on aesthetics from fashion to home is something to look into if “peace of mind” is on your list. With the neutral palette she makes the world seem like the most beautiful hygge fairytale.

BODY CARE – The Inner Glow

WE USE:

“Lately we have been washing our hands and faces probably hundred times more often than a month ago. For this reason and of course the luxury of time we have now, we have built little routines of self-made care. Our most favorite is the home made mask for our dry hands and face. All You have to do is find a spoon of olive oil, a spoon of honey, mix them together and gently apply onto your face and hands. Let it stay for 15 minutes for the magic to happen. Trust us – simple recipes, can bring biggest joy. P.S. Add matcha to to your mix for a more radiant effect. If you want to make it into a body scrub – add brown sugar.”
